The Residence – Museum “Eleftherios K. Venizelos” is classified as an authentic (documentary) home, since it is recounting the life of a personage and it is preserving authentic items, most of them in their original position. The Residence-Museum is not just a building containing collections or the original furniture of a bygone era, but as a result of a collective and integrated museological project, has developed the ability to recall the past, which in turn gives to the monument great social and political significance.

The first Museum of Typography in Greece is located in Chania, Crete, in the heart of the Mediterranean sea. It is a private initiative by Yannis Garedakis, founder of the newspaper “Haniotika nea”, with the support of his wife Eleni. He has been collecting, for more than thirty years, machines and other exhibits that mark the evolution of European typography.

 On the northwest side of the harbor in the city of Chania, the Venetians built the Revellino del Porto, a fortification project to protect the harbor and its entrance. Today, the main building of the fortress houses the main number of exhibitions of the Maritime Museum of Crete. At the two floors of the museum, you will explore the maritime history of Crete and Greece.

 Archaeological Museum of Chania

 The Permanent Exhibition of the Archaeological Museum of Chania is set out in galleries on the ground floor and part of the upper floor of the building. 

The Temporary Exhibition Gallery, accessed by a separate entrance to the permanent exhibition, is located on the ground floor, as are the Museum shop and offices. A wide, straight staircase and an elevator lead to the upper floor, which houses the Konstantinos, Marika and Kyriakos Mitsotakis Collection, the Educational Programme Room, the 120-seat amphitheatre and the café. The café, at the north end of the building, offers a panoramic view of the Sea of Crete and the city of Chania.
